And now Magus, it seems time;
The beatific angels have
Promised a vision.
Eliot is gone, laid at Little Gidding,
The multifoliate rose, Beatrice,
Is again transformed—
The mushroomed light
Of suns come too close
To our earth, to our deserts, to our minds.
Reduced to one simple flame:
e=mc2
And Daedalus, our Daedalus,
More than Ridley and Latimore were they,
Who though the Fire Sermon came,
Could not burn.
We no longer use or understand—
We hear a purified dialect.
